A.B.C.D developped an hybrid system (Patented) to switch between monohull speedboat mode “jet boat” & hovercraft mode: 

This gives the ability to cross where you would normally have run aground, shoals, banks, mudflats or where there is an unexpected lack of water. 
The ABCD concept is a perfect tool to cross changing level rivers with substantial tidal ranges like the Maroni river in French Guiana, the Congo, the Amazon, and so many others…

Taking advantage of each mode
using the right propulsion system 

“ship” mode: an hydrojet will give the same abilities as those of many boats (speedboat or jet boat). Also you could use the propeller without the inflated air cushion to get an airboat mode.

Hovercraft (amphibious) mode: a propeller will ensure the forward thrust but the concept (patented) allows a modular air-cushion inflation so you can use the hydrojet aswell.

Wheel version: The under developement option is thinked to facilitate and secure some of the ground maneuvers.
